2026 Symposium Schedule of Events

Project Set-Up:

Projects can be set up on Friday morning, starting at 8:00 a.m. Please go to the designated registration tables to find out where to set up your project. Once finished, make sure to have a member of the Safety and Ethics team check your project. You can find out more about Safety and Ethics at these sites:

Opening Ceremonies

Friday: Opening Ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Student Activities

From 10:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m., all students will be involved in science-related activities. Lunch will begin at 12:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to bring their own bagged lunch. 

From 1:00-3:00 p.m., students will be involved in science activities. 

Note: Students are asked to bring any personal school supplies such as pencil crayons or colored markers, and paper and plastic recyclables for Friday activities, such as paper/toilet rolls, cereal boxes, bottle caps, etc.

Judging Day

Judging of projects will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Lunch will take place from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

The elementary students may leave at 12:00 p.m. once their judging process is completed.

The grades 7 to 12 students will be informed after lunch if they need to stay for the afternoon judging.

Public Viewing and Awards Ceremony

Medal Awards

Sunday will begin with public viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the medal awards distribution from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. We will begin with the Grades 7-12 medal award recipients, followed by the Grades 4-6 (elementary medal awards).

Special Awards

Special Awards will take place after lunch, starting at 1:00 p.m. Project take down will begin once the special awards ceremony is completed, around 2:00 p.m.

CWSF Finalists

Those students selected to represent MSSS at the Canada Wide Science Fair are asked to stay behind to register for this event.

Please make sure you are available to attend the Canada Wide Science Fair (May 23-30, 2026) in Edmonton, Alberta and that your travel ID is updated.
